Little Man Photo Frame

Photo Frame privacy

This page describes the Google Drive photo feature in the Little Man Android app.

What Photo Frame accesses

You choose a Google Drive folder through the Android app. Photo Frame uses Google’s drive.file permission to list and read supported photos in subfolders of that folder. Photos directly in the selected folder are included only if the owner enables that setting. The permission can also allow the app to change or delete files selected or opened with it. The app stores the selected folder information on the device so it can refresh the display.

Local copies and Drive changes

Photo Frame downloads source photos and makes display-ready JPEG copies in the Android app’s private storage. It keeps a local record of the active photos and removes older cached photo files as the active set changes. The selected photos are used for the device display. The Android feature gets photos directly from Google Drive; it does not upload them to the Artificial Persons public website.

Drive write-back is off by default. If the owner explicitly arms it, Photo Frame can replace an eligible photo in its existing Drive file with a prepared JPEG and update that file’s metadata. Turning write-back off stops future Photo Frame replacements; it does not undo a replacement already made in Drive.

Photo Frame uses Google data for this display and optional write-back. Its use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Removing access and local data

You can revoke the app’s Google Drive access in your Google Account’s third-party connection settings. Revoking access stops future authorized Drive requests, but does not itself erase photo copies already stored on the device. To remove those local copies, clear the Little Man Android app’s storage in device settings or uninstall the app. Either action also removes other locally stored Little Man app data and settings. These actions do not remove the original photos from your Google Drive.
